Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions? We’re here with answers. Whether you’re a new client, a longtime friend, or just curious about what we offer, this page covers some of the most common questions we hear from pet parents.

Appointments

How do I schedule my first appointment?

You can call us or book online to set up an appointment. Don’t forget to mention our $75 new client discount when scheduling.

We recommend scheduling in advance, but we’ll do our best to accommodate urgent needs whenever possible.

Yes, we provide both day and overnight boarding for dogs and cats. We also accommodate pets with medical needs, such as diabetes or kidney disease.

We currently only treat dogs and cats. We do not see exotic pets, reptiles, fish, birds, or farm animals.

Financing

We accept most major credit cards, CareCredit, and offer discounts for seniors and military families.

Visit carecredit.com to submit a secure application. Approval is quick, and if you need help, our team is happy to walk you through the process in person.

Once approved, you can use your CareCredit card just like any regular credit card at checkout. If you apply in our office, we can help you access your account number so you can use it immediately.

CareCredit can be used for most services and products we provide, including wellness exams, lab work, dental procedures, surgeries, diagnostics, prescription food, and more. It’s also accepted at many human healthcare providers.

Most pet insurance plans reimburse you after you’ve paid your veterinary bill and submitted a claim. Some providers now offer direct pay options. We gladly work with all pet insurance companies and are happy to help you gather any required paperwork.

No. It’s an independent tool designed to help you shop and compare pet insurance plans in one place. It’s completely free and helps take the guesswork out of the process.

Consider your pet’s age, breed, and any known health risks. Think about whether you want coverage for accidents, chronic illnesses, or wellness care. Pawlicy Advisor makes it easy to sort through options and find a plan that works for you.

Services

Yes. Even indoor pets can be exposed to illnesses, parasites, or environmental changes. Regular checkups help us catch subtle signs of illness before they become serious.

Most adult pets should see us once a year, while puppies, kittens, and senior pets benefit from more frequent visits. We’ll help you set the right schedule based on your pet’s age and health.

Your pet’s wellness visit includes a physical exam, vaccine review, parasite prevention plan, and lifestyle consultation. Depending on your pet’s needs, we may recommend lab work, nutrition or behavior counseling, or additional testing.

While we don’t currently offer bundled plans, we strive to make care affordable with military and senior discounts, and flexible CareCredit financing is available for those who qualify.

We’ll provide clear instructions beforehand, but generally, you’ll need to withhold food after midnight and arrive on time the morning of surgery. We’ll answer all your questions at your pet’s pre-op appointment.

Pain management is a top priority. We use multimodal pain relief strategies, including injectable medications and take-home prescriptions, to keep your pet comfortable throughout recovery.

Not always. We’ll evaluate your pet thoroughly and explore alternatives like rest, weight management, or acupuncture when appropriate. But in some cases, surgery offers the best long-term outcome.

Most pets go home the same day, but if your pet requires an overnight stay, we’ll keep you updated and can often arrange visits if needed for longer recoveries.

That depends on the surgery. Routine procedures may only require 10–14 days of limited activity. Orthopedic surgeries involve longer, structured recoveries, but we’ll provide a timeline and help you manage each stage at home.

Chronic bad breath usually means your pet’s oral microbiome is unbalanced. It’s one of the first, and most ignored, signs of dental disease.

Pets rarely show obvious signs, but subtle changes in behavior, appetite, or chewing habits can be red flags. If your pet is avoiding toys or seems reluctant to eat, it’s worth scheduling a dental exam.

Most do, especially as they age. Small dog breeds, cats, and pets with underlying health issues may require more frequent cleanings. We’ll make a personalized dental plan based on your pet’s unique needs.

Yes, daily brushing is ideal, but we can recommend products like dental chews, rinses, or prescription dental diets if brushing isn’t feasible. Preventive home care goes a long way between professional cleanings.

No. Cleaning a pet’s teeth without anesthesia may remove surface tartar but leaves dangerous bacteria behind under the gums. Worse, it can cause stress and pain. True dental care must happen under anesthesia, where it can be done thoroughly and humanely.
